The output of finished steel products reached 14.91 million tons, up 14.5%, while the consumption of steel products reached 14.93 million tons, up 12.9%.<\/p>\n<p>The above figures show that the production scale of Vietnam&#8217;s steel industry is continuing to be expanded in a synchronous and modern direction, gradually improving the autonomy in the global industrial supply chain. According to VSA, Vietnamese steel products are currently present in more than 40 markets around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Over more than 25 years of development, Vietnam&#8217;s steel industry has transformed strongly from a small-scale production to one of the major steel production centers of Southeast Asia. In 2025, Vietnam will rank 30th in the world in terms of steel production, with crude steel output reaching about 24.5 &#8211; 24.7 million tons and finished steel reaching 30.7 million tons.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3846 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dk-metalsurfacetreatment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/HRC-1.jpg\" alt=\"steel industry\" width=\"736\" height=\"552\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 90%;\"><em>The steel market in the first five months of 2026 continued to show many positive signs, with crude steel production reaching 12.553 million tons, an increase of 26.8% compared to the same period in 2025.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_steel_industry_faces_many_global_challenges\"><\/span><strong>The steel industry faces many global challenges<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Despite positive growth, Vietnam&#8217;s steel industry is still facing many major challenges.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Protectionism_and_trade_remedy_pressures\"><\/span><strong>Protectionism and trade remedy pressures<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>According to Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Steel Association, the global steel capacity surplus is leading to a wave of protectionism in many key export markets.
